Overview

Adolf Wagner was born on October 1, 1890, in Algringen, Alsace-Lorraine. He served in World War I, where he was injured twice and lost his leg. After the war, he moved to Bavaria and joined the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) in 1923. He became Gauleiter of Upper Palatinate in 1928 and later of Munich and Upper Bavaria. Wagner held several political positions, including Bavarian Minister of the Interior and Education, and was involved in organizing forced labor for the war effort during World War II.

Wagner struggled with chronic alcoholism, and after suffering a stroke in 1942, his health declined. He died on April 12, 1944, from a second stroke.
